love & mud | Miami Family Photographer

There’s so many things that I want to say about this session. I’ve been quite the obsessed little girl looking them over and over wondering which ones to pick to blog. I love working with this family… and it all started here. Way back when I was starting to shoot birth sessions. Baby Luke was only my second birth session and I’d say that pretty much after that day, I was hooked. We continued to work together throughout the years and my love for these boys just keeps on multiplying. The joy I feel when photographing them translates through my lens into my heart like no other. As always Sam steels the show. There wasn’t a time that his eyes weren’t fixed on my camera. When it comes to shy kids and fear of being photographed, Sam has completely overcome his like a pro. Partly because his momma is another photography lover and I’m sure he’s seen a lens in front of his cute little face ever since the day he was born. And Luke, well I can voucher for that since I was the one taking his picture in the delivery room. The baby with buns of steel. (I always remember this when taking pictures of other babies. Haha. Oh Luke.) This time we tried something new. Getting dirty. Mud-ding. I’m sure that the next time, the boys will be a bit older and we will be soaking each other with water balloons, who knows. It’s always a pleasure and I can’t wait to do it again. Love you guys.

Taking a break from editing this beautiful family…. for that wonderful nap that I talked about yesterday. Their pictures will be up next. Happy cuddling while it’s raining to all my Miami folks!

the girl with a braid

Sometimes working too much is a good thing. Sometimes being nocturnal and waking up in the morning with heavy eyes means that I’m being productive. This feeling that work will never end is… nice. Last year while I lounged around the beach and pool during the summer, I had no idea I would be dreaming of days like that over and over. But now when I have free time, it’s not to the beach I want to escape to… its to the sofa with little Coconut. To snuggle and drift away as I fall asleep thinking about how happy I am doing nothing else but just that.  Coco & I taking a nap on a Sunday afternoon = bliss. Add a little bit of rain and a cold dark room and I won’t ever want to get up. I’m editing right now and although I actually love the family who’s pictures I’m working on, that nap is haunting me. I’m so looking forward to it this weekend! The above picture was taken by my assistant Jael this past weekend during our early morning shoot. We actually pose when measuring light… more on the lovely Jay coming soon.

Mason is all grown up | Miami Children Photographer

There are children that at first act shy and somewhat nervous to be around strangers. Then there’s those that will walk right up to you ask question after question without a care in the world of such things like privacy or personal space. According to my mother, I belong to the latter category of children. This little boy, Mason, has a category all on his own. I was in complete shock at his ability to fully express himself in full sentences, jokes and all. Folks, Mason is two and a half… and I’m sure he’d still beat a couple of kids in a spelling bee contest any day. It’s always a pleasure to work with my “birth” families… and let me tell you, Mason’s birth was so special. Mason, thank you for remembering somehow that I’ve known you all your life and that being cool with me would be the greatest thing ever.

For a look at our sessions together:  Click here and here for his birth session. Click here for his newborn shoot, and all these other ones to watch him grow…. here, here and here. Just looking at those again… wow Casey, little Mason isn’t quite so little anymore! Happy Thursday everyone.
